SUPPORT FOR LEARNING
CYMORTH AR GYFER DYSGU
All pupils join the school with a set of achievement data. In Year 7 all pupils
are assessed, providing additional information about a pupil’s potential
and learning style. Challenging targets are then set for each pupil, who
will join in discussions about the best ways of achieving these targets with
their subject and form teacher.
We monitor pupil achievements
at regular intervals (‘Progress
Checks’) and make sure that they
are making appropriate progress
towards achieving their targets. If
we are concerned we will contact
parents/carers and involve
them in planning strategies
for improvement. Appropriate
intervention is designed to
support pupils who are not
meeting their target grades and
will include mentoring, parental
involvement and one to one
tuition. Full progress in Literacy
and Numeracy is a priority. We will
provide additional intervention
work. If we feel that this is
necessary. Throughout the year
we run many additional study
sessions across the curriculum
both at lunchtime and after
school.
In addition to academic progress, of pupils in relation to the core values and
conduct expectations. This will be reported to parents through progress
check reports. This includes attendance levels, behaviour indicators and
our school values.
